Remote download wireless adapter what is2/20/2024 ![]() If a device attaches to ugen (USB) or shows as "not configured" it's going to need more than a firmware installation to get it to work. You often can't tell much from the name reported by the device shown in dmesg, device IDs are more useful (usbdevs -v for USB, pcidump -v for PCI). Sometimes chips with a different model number are similar enough to work directly, sometimes not. The RTL8188CE seems to be supported by rtwn. Is using the prior year's model of the same laptop and is not using the internal wifi.īios whitelists suck, but I could always try changing for another chip. Secondly - I am OK with giving up on using the current PCIe Wifi chip. I guess my first question is general - will drivers ONLY work specifically for the chipsets listed on that Wikipedia page? I see that BCM430x/4318 are supported - could this work? Not sure what the chipset is, but I get the impression that Broadcom isn't well supported so not holding too much hope on this one. I have installed all 3 of these drivers via USB stick (fw_update shows installed rsu-firmware-1.2p1, rtwn-firmware-1.0, urtwn-firmware-1.2), but nothing has happened. For instance, there is rsu which has RTL8188SU/RTL8191SU/RTL8192SU, there is rtw which has RTL8180L, and there is rtwn which has RTL8188CE/RTL8192CE. I can see that SOME Realtek chipsets are listed, but not my 8822BE. I looked in the BIOS and the model is: Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac "vendor "Realtek", unknown product 0xb822 (class network subclass miscellaneous, rev 0x00) at pci2 dev 0 function 0 not configured There is no ethernet port on the computer.
